One of my favourite concepts is luck surface area.
Every business success story has a degree of luck in it.
Some people argue that it’s all hard work, but I think you’d be hard pressed to find a story where luck didn’t play a very big role.
But that doesn’t mean that you should write off other people’s success as lucky.
They were just in the right position to capitalize on whatever luck came their way.
And one day that will happen to you.
You increase your chances of catching that lucky event by increasing your ‘luck surface area’.
That means doing the right things like:
- Meeting the right people
- Learning the right skills
- Focusing on your best marketing channels
Or whatever makes the most sense for your business.
One of those people you met could be the ‘in’ for a huge contract.
The skills you learned could become highly sought after.
An event like COVID might happen that increases the search volume for something that you offer.
The point is, one day it’ll happen.
It could be in 6 months. Could be a decade.
But one day it’ll happen. And you’ll have a better chance if you’re always increasing your luck surface area.
