I HATE hiring.
It’s one of the things I dread most in business…
You have to dig through tons of applications, most of which suck.
Shortlisting is hard because you want to give people a chance, but you have to be ruthless to protect your own time.
Interviewing is time consuming.
And then it’s hard to say no and reject people. I struggle with this part the most.
But on the flip side…
Hiring is probably one of the best things you can do for your business.
Coming out the other side of this process with an awesome new person on your team is the BEST. Especially when they are a total A-player.
We’ve just been through this process to hire a new Customer Success agent for
Content Snare. Pretty sure I’ve fist pumped several times since Marina has come on board, because of the awesome stuff she’s doing and how quick she’s learning.
We’re a week in and the hiring headache is already more than made up for.
What’s holding you back?
It got me thinking… what is the main thing that holds you back when it comes to hiring?
Is it the process?
The cost?
Part of me expected hiring in a Western country was going to kill us.
Through this process I learned that there are loads of great people with hourly rates around $20 an hour even inside the USA.
(Maybe that’s because we see a lot of developers pitched at $100 an hour)
This made me wonder if other people assume the same thing.
For $20/hour would you consider hiring somebody to take some work off your plate? If so, there are loads of people out there looking for work. Maybe it’s time to hire someone.
If you go down this path, we used
DynamiteJobs. And if you’re interested,
here was our job post. Go ahead and steal bits - I borrowed most of it from posts I liked :)
