Quick tip this week.
If you want to grow your business or improve what you do, feedback is super important. Whether that’s feedback on your designs, websites, products or a course you’re thinking about making… feedback helps you make better decisions.
You should always be asking for feedback.
The problem is it can be hard to get the real stuff.
Most people would rather protect your feelings than tell you the truth.
The result of that could be:
  • Wasting months creating something that nobody wants
  • Continuing with the same ideas and design styles that aren’t liked
  • Not improving
But it’s pretty easy to prompt people for better feedback.
What’s worked for me is asking people to be “brutal”.
Some kind of variant or combination of the following statements:

  • Please let me know what you think about X
  • Will this actually be helpful for you?
  • Do you care at all or is this a waste of time?
  • Would you pay money to have this resolved?
  • Please be brutal. You’re not going to hurt my feelings. We need real, honest feedback to make X better.
Use this and see how much better feedback you’ll get from clients and friends.
